For 10th grade english at ASU prep, I was tasked with creating a looping animation to accompany a section on Satire. I like this particular animation because it shows off the power of AE’s puppet tool. This was originally a still from Shutterstock. It was simple to separate the characters from the background, but quite difficult to separate parts of the body for animation due to the heavy texturization. I usually use legacy puppet tool for character animation, but with a complex illustration like this, you get a lot of pinching and pulling of the artwork. The flexibility and ability to fine tune starchiness and weights with the modern puppet tool allowed me to make this animation feel much more refined.
